The Threads came together by way of Tampa pop legends Barely Pink. After the Pink packed it up in the summer of 2004 (after a ten year run), founding members Ted Lukas and Brian Merrill decided to write and record some new songs together. The resultÑa new band with a new name, and an entirely new sound. The two former partners had not worked together since Lukas left Barely Pink in 1998 shortly after recording their second release, EllieÕs Suitcase (Big Deal Records /USA, and JVC Victor/Japan). Lukas, who had spent the last six years playing in Hangtown and the Distractions (also featuring Barely PinkÕs Stan Arthur on drums) recommended bringing in his current guitar partner, Nashville transplant Sonny John Sundstrom. Along with Barely PinkÕs longest lasting rhythm section, Stan Arthur on drums and Michael Hoag on bass, recording sessions began and the Threads were born.
